For Immediate Release on March 20, 2020 COVID-19 Announcement
Shelbyville Central Schools, in response to Governor Holcomb’s directive, will remain closed until May 1, 2020. As communicated earlier this week, we will be offering meal delivery distribution at designated bus stops as well as onsite at Shelbyville High School at Gates 5 and 6 beginning Monday, March 30th, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
You will receive a postcard the week of March 23rd outlining meal distribution stops and approximate times. Additionally, students unable to access eLearning lessons, will have eLearning packets available at the designated meal distribution stops.
Attached to this message is the eLearning schedule that Shelbyville Central Schools will follow until May 1, 2020.
Important and useful information on community based services is also attached. One of the services included is directed to families currently without internet service. Comcast and Spectrum are providing free access for 60 days.
Our schools will be closed to the public; however, office staff will be available by phone on eLearning days from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Central Office will be open Monday - Friday by appointment only from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The staff will be responding to phone calls and emails daily throughout the closure.
To our graduating class of 2020, we understand this has been a difficult year. The SCS school community will, to the best of its ability, recognize the class of 2020’s accomplishments and plan for future celebrations.
Please continue to watch for school and district level listservs. We will get through this together.
Immediate Memo on March 18, 2020
We are taking precautions to protect the health and safety of our staff, students and families. Shelbyville Central Schools will be closed the week of Monday, March 30th through Friday, April 3rd.
Monday, March 30th and Friday, April 3rd will be waiver days with no eLearning. On Tuesday, March 31st through Thursday, April 2nd, we will be doing eLearning days. You can access eLearning lessons through the district website at https://scs.shelbycs.org/. Staff will be available on eLearning days to provide support. Teacher office hours will be communicated. The lessons from the eLearning modules will be due on Monday, April 6th.
We will be doing bus route meal delivery which includes a daily breakfast and lunch the week of March 30 through April 3rd. Free meal delivery will be available for all children ages 18 and under. Parents without internet access may pick up and return completed packets to bus staff when they deliver meals. A postcard will be mailed next week with more information including approximate times and route stops. Shelbyville High School will continue to be an onsite meal distribution center from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm each day.
Central office will be open daily from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. (317-392-2505) School offices will be open on eLearning days from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
This is a very fluid situation and recommendations are coming in daily. In the event, we need to continue to stay closed, we will follow a similar pattern with waiver, eLearning days and bus route meal delivery.
We appreciate your support and understanding. Please continue to watch for school level listservs.
